Why are books about war so boring? The first world war, the gaul conquest, the second world war, etc

They are all like

>they conquered/moved (random position)
>they fought relentlessly
>they were forced to retreat

its these same sentences in different order, its just the same it just feels like reading from wikipedia

and then I remember nothing about them
I read 3 books about (davidson's mainly) ww1 ,yet nothing has remained in my brain

War is a tough subject to put to paper.
Often due to the fact that most of war is relatively slow and uneventful.
Long marches, position reinforcement ( weapon's cleaning, emplacement maintenance etc.) uneventful patrols or sentry duty.
And what's worst, conflict is often difficult to describe in writing. It can be slow, grinding and methodical, or hectic, brutal and extremely violent, which all can change in a heartbeat with the constant ebb and flow of conflict. People don't have time to remember events or certain details. They have to contend with staying alive, killing the enemy, and completing a mission.
I hope that explains your question OP

Unless you’re a Marxist, anti-fascist then delete this thread and don’t ever post Otto Dix again. He doesn’t belong to you.

He didn’t make “le creepy xD WW1 BASED STALHELM” art. He made anti-war, anti-bourgeois, and anti-fascist art and was harassed viciously by Nazi faggots.

the reason is that war is long periods of doing absolutely nothing or walking somewhere punctuated by brief spasms of total mayhem

I really wish Jünger had gotten killed in WW1 and didn’t write a religious manifesto for incel gamers who haven’t read Nietzsche but nevertheless think they a disciple of him.
