Does /lit/ ever drink while reading? If so, what's your drink of choice?

A nice dry unfiltered cidre is my go to in the evening. More than three glasses and the text starts becoming cumbersome. Green tea is the thinking man’s reading beverage of choice.

Alcohol damages the brain and myelin sheath surrounding the nerves. It is extremely damaging when consumed in binge frequency such as Friday night or weekend drinkers. This is because the rebound glutamate surge is excitotoxic. This damages it more than the so called european drunks who developed alcoholism gradually, such as Mada Mikkelson in the movie Druk. The binge drinker is the average person. That is why the light has left their eyes and the only worthwhile alcohol consumers in history were those in moderation (1 serving ot less) such as Tesla or full blown alcoholics. There are no profound semi, weekly drinkers. They are all worthless with profound brain damage. Most are better off not drinking but you will not heed my advice.

Oh no my myelin sheaths! Good thing signals pass through axons and dendrites rather than through the inert material surrounding their junctures.

Never. The way Americans, especially women, treat alcohol is unbelievably cringe to me.
Alcohol “culture” gives me embarrassment by proxy and I feel like there is no point in drinking alcohol after college unless you’re an NPC with nothing going on in your hollow skull or you’re trying to drown away some pain

Over the last year I have noticed that almost everyone past the age of 25 who talks about drinking alcohol is talking casually about an addiction they don’t even realize they have. They often think it’s even cute.
>teehee I have been really pushing myself towards mindful alcohol consumption lately
Sickens me.

No, I don’t drink and read. I am an adult.

I don't drink while reading but I do drink while writing.

I almost always have a glass of wine next to me when I'm writing. I'll write a few hundred/thousand words at a time, take a sip, and then write a few hundred/thousand words more.

I like dry whites, and the occasional brandy with lemonade or earl grey. I avoid tequila because if I ever start drinking it, I will continue to drink it until there is no more tequila left, regardless of the amount. I don't really like any other hard liquors.

They aren't inert. Myelin sheaths function as conductors. If you have thinner-or-no myelin sheaths insulating the axons, then the signal will have a much harder time travelling down the axon and reaching the next nerve fiber. It's a very serious problem when your myelin degrades.
