We are currently at 73 ballots and 155 nominated plays. This poll is going really well so far, here are the top fifteen as of now:

1. Hamlet
2. Waiting For Godot
3. Macbeth
4. Oedipus Rex
5. Faust
6. Antigone
7. King Lear
8. Endgame
9. Othello
10. Julius Caesar
11. Death of a Salesman
12. Ubu Roi
13. Doctor Faustus
14. The Importance of Being Earnest
15. Mad Love Comes

Hello, /lit/. It just occurred to me that we may not have many proper charts for plays and the world of theatre.

I think we really oughta have a poll for it. There is a lot of fantastic literature out there on the stage, and I don't think we talk about them enough. Maybe with a proper chart we can encourage more interaction with the medium.

So friends, below I've posted a link to a poll where you can vote on your favorite works of theatre. You don't have to necessarily vote on which plays you think are the best, but the ones you've gotten the most enjoyment out of reading.

I just listened to Faust in audio format where each character is played by different voice actors. It was great. I think I’m gonna start listening to more plays now.

Oedipus at Colonus is on the list! It currently stands with two votes.

I have not been engaging in 'ballot manipulation.' My rules are that duplicate ballots will not be counted. That is how it has been in all the polls which I have conducted.

A Taste of Honey by Shelagh Delaney was my vote.
I don't read many plays I hope this poll brings some to my attention, and not only Shakespeare

The trouble with only 5 is there might be a lot of good stuff that's a lot of people's 6-20. I suppose you can submit multiple forms but that seems like cheating.

Here's a few I hope are getting some love:
>Under Milk Wood (Thomas)
>Krapp's Last Tape (Beckett)
>The Wild Duck (Ibsen)
>Old Times (Pinter)
>The Ice-Man Cometh (O'Neill)

No, I don't see much point in that. This is just a one-off event to hopefully charge more conversation of theatre around here since we are somewhat lacking in that area.

That's great buddy. Do you have a link? that sounds like something I'd be interested in. Also, if you live in a metropolitan area, you should definitely consider going out to see performances, there are some pretty good theatre circles going around these days.

>>18328107
There's definitely a lot of Shakespeare on the list, not that there's anything wrong with that, but there's a healthy helping of great plays which have been nominated from every era and area.
