I'm not an expert but I'm pretty sure Nietzche is lamenting the metaphorical death of God. The way our society as became superficial and paganistic. I might be wrong though.

The hairy hands are an important symbol moron. They prefigure Christ, just like everything else in the Old Testament that seems dumb to modern people.

Don’t argue with new atheists. Argue with old school “league of the godless” cunce like me. There’s nothing wrong with your Pokémon fan club except for the child rape pro capitalism and inherent intellectual inauthenticity post existentialism. Kierkegaards god doesn’t exist in a fruitful way which most Christians are incapable of. Show me a Christian except for the most humble who suspends the ethical to produce a transvaluation of values in service to the commands of Christ? I know one, and while intelligent she lacks the theory to express that she does so.

that section from Genesis 27 has pretty important anthropological significance
read Rene Girard's book Vilence and the Sacred anon
If you want to read cool stuff from scripture, check out the Sapiential Literature (Ecclesiastes, the Song of Songs, the Book of Wisdom and Sirach), Psalms, The Gospel of John and Revelations

Correct.
Also very important to note is that in the Gay Science, it is the madman that announces the Death of God.
>>18298530
Moveover, its interesting to note that what he wrote there in the Gay Science on the death of God is oddly very Christian.
God incarnate really did suffer and die. In a real sense, we killed him through our sin that he beared the burden of. But the fact that Christ rose from the dead after the harrowing of hell solves the problem for Nietzsche.
This act of forgiveness "wipes the blood" off us in so far as we are born again of the spirit and water [John 3:5].
We might say that the "festivals of atonement" that we were given to perform are the sacraments, specifically the Eucharist which is to be done "in memory" of Christ, of which he is really present in [Luke 22:19].
And that last question:
>must we not become gods to appear worthy of this
Is answered by the Patristic explanation of redemption. Christian redemption is deification/beatitude which are two sides of the same coin. God became man so that we too might become gods as St. Athanasius tells us. It's somewhat the reverse of Nietzsche's question: when we become worthy by grace, we can become gods.

I'm making an argument about the writing quality, not the historical or anthropologic value, which I already know is immense.
It's just annoying when christfags take retarded passages and try to explain them as genius and holy with some asinine mental gymnastics.

I mean it's quite common knowledge that the Pentateuch books are historical. They aren't supposed to be flowery, beautiful prose because it wouldn't be fitting for their format. Similar case with the Synoptic Gospels: they are explicitly written in the Greco-Roman bios format. They are supposed to be dry because of their intended format ["this happened", "do this"], unlike say Ecclesiastes or the Canticle of Canticles.

Everyone knows the OT sucks for writing style. Repetition and conflation are the central poetics of the Scribal and Priestly styles. They’re shit. They’re rhymes ain’t shit. Babylonians come and they have a shit fit. They think they’re fly and preserving their style but MENE MENE MENE is too fucken dry.

The Greek narratives are okay for small town authors but they’re not classical and their plot is—suspicious. The letters are dreck

like this

Who is this inexplicable being, who, when there are so many agreeable, lucrative, honest and even honourable professions to choose among, in which a man can exercise his skill or his powers, has chosen that of torturing or killing his own kind? This head, this heart, are they made like our own? Is there not something in them that is peculiar, and alien to our nature? Myself, I have no doubt about this. He is made like us externally. He is born like all of us. But he is an extraordinary being, and it needs a special decree to bring him into existence as a member of the human family–a fiat of the creative power [...]

The gloomy signal is given; an abject servitor of justice knocks on his door to tell him he is wanted; he goes; he arrives in a public square covered by a dense, trembling mob. A poisoner, a parricide, a man who has committed sacrilege is tossed to him: he seizes him, stretches him, ties him to ahorizontal cross, lifts his arms; there is a horrible silence; there is no sound but that of bones cracking under the bars, and the shrieks of the victim. He unties him. He puts him on the wheel; the shattered limbs are entangled in the spokes; the head hangs down; the hair stands up, and the mouth gaping open like a furnace from time to time emits only a few bloodstained words to beg for death. The executioner has finished. His heart is beating, but it is with joy: he congratulates himself, he says in hisheart ‘Nobody breaks men on the wheelas well as I.’ He steps down. He holds out his bloodstained hand, the justice throws him from a distance a few pieces of gold, which he catches through a double row of human beings standing back in horror. He sits down to table, and he eats. He goes to bed and he sleeps. And on the next day, when he wakes, he thinks of something totally different from what he did the day before. Is he a man? Yes. God receives him in his temples, and allows him to pray. He is not a criminal. Nevertheless no tongue dare declare that he is virtuous, that he is an honest man, that he is estimable. No moral praise is appropriate to him, for everyone else is assumed to have relations with human beings: he has none. And yet all greatness, all power, all subordination rest on the executioner. He is the terror and he is the bond of human association. Remove this mysterious agent from the world, and in an instant order yields to chaos: thrones fall, society disappears. God, who has created sovereignty, has also made punishment; he has fixed the earth upon these two poles: For the poles of the earth are the Lord’s, and upon them he hath set the world

I'm saying Isaac not recognizing Jacob is absurd. Just as Lot's daughters getting him drunk and fucking him is absurd.
But christfags who believe and cherish every word always find a way to explain that it makes perfect sense.

Another example: Judges 11
God accepts a human sacrifice, but christfags say that's not what happens even though it is literally what is written.

Because a Christian cannot read a book, or watch a movie/show created post-2010 without the writer using a character to take a swipe at God or the Christian religion. They do not go after Scientology or Islam; it is always the Christian religion.
In fiction taking place during a fictional medieval period, what do you often see? That's right -- a thinly veiled allegory of the inquisition. You see it in Berserk, the Castlevania cartoon, His Dark Materials, etc.
And why? To show 'religion is evil'.

the anthropological significances to which that other anon alluded you can explain a lot of the ''retarded passaegs''. you are judging the writing quality of a translation of a language of more than two millenia. read other eastern texts, mesopotamian, chinese, egyptian and you will see similarities in the ''''''writing quality'''''. holy shit this can only be bait.

Criticising a text designed to allow priests and patriarchs to abuse the multitude and women and god fearing integrated native people and all women for its absurdity isn’t a good thing.

Absurdity is a common human experience. For example the importance of children to the patriarchal family means that making them sufficiently important to women that sons are their retirement that they ought to break incest taboo is a great story about why wives shouldn’t stand up in the household.

It also means you can strip all the village gendered absurdist female tradition out because you’ve got a new outlet for the absurd.

Good plotting isn’t good writing though.

>The Old Testament -- yes, that is something quite different, all honour to the Old Testament! I find therein great men, an heroic landscape, and one of the rarest phenomena in the world, the incomparable naivete of the Strong of Heart; further still, I find a people. In the New, on the contrary, just a hostel of petty sects.
