Does a sound argument exist that supports the claim that literature is a higher form of art than video games or movies or TV?

> sound argument
sure, just take it as an axiom
If you simply assume the premise,
P = literature is a higher form of art than video games or movies or TV
then P -> P is a valid argument, and by assumption the premise is true
this isn't a circular argument because you haven't specified which axioms are to be taken as true

But there hasn’t been a game which has neared or surpassed a similar aesthetic excellence, utilizing both literature and visuals, that those two art forms haven’t already developed separately from other mediums; albeit, video games are a much younger medium, so it hasn’t had as much time as literature or film to develop, but it seems to me that vidya hasn’t yet had that medium defining moment that came to fruition solely due to an awareness of the nature of its medium. Perhaps VR will allow this to happen, but video games seem to rely a lot on the already established nature of literature and film, simply adding the mechanics of gameplay as a framework.

This isn't necessarily an air tight argument, just my thoughts on the subject. Literature is held in a higher regard than video games and film because it's much more timeless. There's very little influence in terms of budget, books hardly age, etc. That being said I don't think any one media is really above another.

experience. no vidya is on par with the best films, the best films aren't on par with the best /lit/.
literature, painting/drawing/etc, and music are the three pure, and highest, arts
