I get the feeling that you think it's a genuinely a good idea and aren't giving much thought to how conceited it makes you look, so I'll give you some advice here. When that happens, just find another trip or drop it altogether. Your internet "reputation" means nothing. No one cares about you because you post under a different name than anyone else. So just drop the internet persona altogether and these things won't happen at all.

Well I enjoy posting under the name Malavox. If you take my desire to continue posting as conceit, then you're clearly misunderstanding. When I post on this board I talk to a lot of different people, and value the connections i'm able to make. Even if the posters are anonymous, if we've had a good conversation before, they'll be able to recognize my trip and we can continue the next day, or just start an entirely new one. Trip codes aren't intended to be used as a means of ego production, they're simply a way of identifying yourself to the community. I'll be the first to admit to you I have no ego when it comes to this board. When it comes to literature, i'm in way over my head. I'm really only here for discussions about DFW and the like as thats the only literature I feel comfortable enough to discuss. I stick around for the rest of the time because I genuinely admire the discussion that takes place on this board, as when it exists past the realm of "LOL TRIPFAG GTFO" its really quite good. I have no internet reputation, when people rank trip code users, i'm usually left off the list. I don't get any kind of elitist thrill posting with a name on a primarily Anonymous image board. I don't. I simply enjoy using my name, and thats that. I don't expect anyone to care that i'm posting under a different name, i'm just establishing the fact that I am now, so those who I regularly talk to will know.

You know, you anonymous posters constantly call people who use trip codes stuck up and snobbish and the like, but every time you see a poster with a trip code you guys are the first to act holier-than-thou and ascend to your high horses. If you spent half the time you do raging at trip code users as you did reading, this board would be even better than it already is.
