People who claim to like Bukowski never read him apart from quotes on social media.

Is it worth it? From what I've seen it's extremely pornographic simply for the sake of it

bukowski in a nutshell desu

>> No.18260872

my great uncle is enamored with bukowski and has thousands of dollars worth of his first editions, many signed and some even signed to him directly. He’s a 65 yr old child who drinks and smokes weed endlessly. He’s obviously mentally ill and his outbursts have forced even his family to limit their contact. He idolizes bukowski and during my visits with him would insist that I read this or that one first, because it’s perfect for this time in my life. Sad stuff and it’s clear that his understanding of “being cool” in the 70’s coupled with an obsession with Bukowski rendered him useless and alone for the rest of his life

Because you're a pseud and they're better than you. Buko is one of the few people in the last 300 years that could actually write properly.

I never understood why he didn't just move out

the entire point in basedkowski's writing is usually that people who live shitty lives actually enjoy it

Some of his poetry is not bad. I read a selection of his poems, I think it was "Essential Bukowski", and there were some good ones there. Still a lot where he just tries to shock with vulgarity or just takes you on a trip to the depth of human misery, but there are some decent ones.

Other way around, people who dislike Bukowski for seemingly no reason always seem like they have a bug up their ass

I only ever read factotum, but the parts I remember most included him fucking some Asian lady at his job and him having shit stains in his underwear before going to the racetrack to gamble.

What is entry-level Bukowski?

>> No.18262604

>>18262534
it doesnt matter. not an author you need to ‘ease yourself into’ or whatever other nonsense. no authors are like that actually, but i can see why some are treated in that way. only need entry level anything when reading philosophy
