I think people fear his level of personal responsibility and self mastery and basically control over one's own life. I mean if someone with this much control over his own destiny choses to kill himself and in such a way, what does this mean for the average s.o.y.b.o.i or Nazi larper who can't even make a man of himself? A student group convinced Dazai to come speak to them and Mishima, debating whether or not he should go, ended up going just so he could tell Dazai he didn’t like his writing.
