How far in can you go in a book without anything happening? Is 15 pages of the narrator just walking around and talking about what he sees, thinks and remembers too much? My instinctual response would be that I can go on like this as long as I want as long as it's really good, but at some point I gotta get to the point and part of me feels like getting to the "hook" of the story at page 30 is a bit late.
