kinda, the whole point of Flashman is that he's an irredeemable piece of shit who accidentally gets caught up in major historical events from the 1800s and does indeed fuck some locals to spread those british genes

I refuse to believe any novel which insults Ian Flemming on its cover is as based as you have clearly proven it is. Therefore I maintain that it is cringe and bluepilled. And likely written by a dyke negress.

Terry Pratchett, personally. I like to enjoy those books because my mom introduced them to me. I tend to jump all over the place, but I'm having fun.

I gotten into pulp fiction, and I discovered Lesbian Pulp fiction. It's quite fun having some drama with my porn story.

Not that anon, but I think reading is getting pushed out of the mainstream like theater was pushed out. Up to the mid 20th century theaters were very popular, now it's a fringe activity for the middle and upper classes. Reading literature might go the same way. In the wake of video games, easier access to movies and series and YA type books, it just doesn't have the same draw anymore and there are far more accessible options if you just want to experience a story.

It's a chicken and egg problem. People want to talk about what they're reading and if no one reads, then the only place to discuss is online. Which isn't bad but it feeds into less and less reading. The real problem is a lack of the pulpy genre novels that were the mainstay of publishing companies. Scifi is on life support, they jumped to ebooks the quickest, mysteries and romance and still hanging in there but most of what you see on amazons frontpage or your local bookshop are important popsci book, brave diversity novel, and timely political hackjob. Because that's what gets reviewed in the new yorker and the NY times. Reading for lowly non-utilitarian reason is anathema to the upper middle so it sells. I also think it has something to do with the great decrease in our non-working hours and the impossibility of finding any quiet in a modern city.
