Lads, please convince me otherwise; however, I have been engaged in meditation with the objective of reaching henosis and thereby recognizing the nature of reality and of the soul. have experienced this long ago–though the experience has faded–the afterimage of the truth still exists in my mind. Previously, I vehemently desired ego death and the absolute shedding of the trappings of material existence; however, after meditation, I have come to recognize that ego death is in fact egoistical. What's more, it appears to me that reality and the nature of existence is a garment woven with the fabric of tragedy/suffering. Thinking about this, I have determined that tragedy/suffering is the necessary prerequisite for triumph if not triumph in its potential form. I think, then, that reality and existence cannot inherently be a bad since, if we seek out the truth, we see that insofar as we exist we are endowed with the ability to exist exalted: to purify our souls. The fall of the soul, too, is no bad thing; moreover, I suspect it must be willed by the progenitor of souls. The contended soul, the progenitor, is alone. I suspect that the same self reflection that creates the demiurge prompts the soul to fall into the material realm as the contended soul, aware of everything, must become aware of itself, aware of its loneliness, and of its discontent stemming from such self-awareness and thereby loneliness. We are therefore not trapped but directed downwards toward the material realm with the objective of experience those higher states that can only be experienced through the abject depravity of material existence: chiefly, tragedy but also absolute love in a world where it is nigh universally unrequited. The contentment of the contented soul is not borne of actual contentment, of having experienced all states as it can only exist as its whole self in one state; rather, it is characterized by a lack of desire not dissimilar to buddhism. I fear, in this regard, our suffering is not limited solely to the material and that contentment in the immaterial is, while absolute for a time, necessarily ephemeral. Have I been tricked?

What I mean to say is this: if the contended existence is truly content, it cannot experience suffering in/by itself lest it become discontent for, at best, it would be content with discontent and can therefore never experience discontent. Contentedness without discontent is not contentedness just as hot is not hot without cold; thus, just as hot quantifies cold, discontent quantifies contentedness; however, since the content being cannot attain discontent in/by itself, it must change its nature. In this sense, Plato's life flowing into death and death flowing into life is quantified by content flowing into discontent and flowing back into content ad infinitum
