I was told to read Plato (done), the Gnostics (done), a full summary of Western philosophy (read two and listed to the Great Courses giant series), read and overview of Eastern philosophy (done), read Jung intros and Psychology and Alchemy (currently reading), read Schloem on Kabbalah and the Zohar (mostly done), and read Husserl, Guenon, Whitehead, Wittgenstein, and Heidegger. Also to get a background in cognitive science, which I did a degree in before.

This is apparently the background needed for an intro to Neon Genesis Evangelion and Chrono Cross. I've watched/played them, but didn't get to the core mysteries.

I feel these, and Xenogears are core to unlocking my knowledge of reality. All extremely deep works of synchrenistic philosophy created by depressed Japanese geniuses whose projects went hideously over budget and force them to shove their knowledge, unmitigated, into the learner. That is why so few can learn them, you need proper background.

Guenon said the best way to defend tradition was to join a religious order even if they suffered some illegitimacies. Evola disagreed given the practicality of the fact that there are none left which take religion seriously and even then, that the differentiated man becoming a convert would do little. Evola said that the best and most effective form of initiation which would be most available to differentiated men would be of heroic and warrior vocations because they promote the necessary change of essence needed to make one worthy of tradition. And also because the manifestation of such could go on without the specific conditions necessary for the existence of an order.

Of course Evola knew the traditional doctrines had placed priests above warriors. He is simply saying for those who can't achieve the rare fruit of falling upon a legitimate order, the path of active heroism through the warrior vocation would be the most optimal course of action.

Also dying in battle in a traditional civilization is also lacking any sort of spiritual realization and Islam makes this clear, since the lesser jihad is part of exoterism. The problem with Evola is that his views are very philosophical and based on aesthetics, Guenon on the other hand doesn't talk about a blind concept of "differentiated men", his interest is initiation because that is how one can attain spiritual realization, liberation, etc.
