How do I find more quality Historical Fiction like pic related? I've found a few others I've enjoyed, like Shiloh by Shelby Foote and Agincourt by Bernard Cromwell, but whenever I go looking for historical fiction (most interested in military historical fiction), I end up mostly finding romance/erotica for women...

Also, recs for military focused Historical Fiction novels?

I really like Len Deighton for WWII era spy fiction.

Waltari's The Dark Angel is about a siege of Constantinople and is a great read, although I have a feeling you're looking for something more modern.

No that's a great rec! Doesn't have to be modern, in fact I enjoy learning about older events via historical fiction like Killer Angels, to add some flavor to the drier nonfiction stuff I tend to follow up with.

Why not just graduate to reading non-fiction history?

Oh you meant it's an older publishing date, but also fine with me - the two civil war ones I noted are both fairly old. I'm a little hesitant of translations because so much of the prose is often lost, but I'll definitely give the Finn a shot.

The Aubrey-Maturin books are great, but get a little repetitive after the first six entries.
Umberto Eco's stuff is also good.
I read pic related and its sequel recently thanks to an anon's recommendation and liked them both a lot. Don't know about the rest of the series.

Read Master & Commander but agree it's good. I've added the pic you posted to the list, it looks interesting!

I do, but they often are super dry and high level, or primary sources that don't really provide a narrative. Open to any suggestions of engaging nonfiction authors, though.

Pillars of the Earth is legit, despite the hype. Mary Renault's Greek historical fiction has romantic elements but are fucking great. Louis de Wohl wrote great Catholic historical fiction.

Should I read Gods and Generals before this book?

No, Killer Angels is the only good one. The sequels and prequels were written by his son; they are bad and take way more license than Killer Angels with the characters and events
