'That’s my desperate, very desperate hope, that if Trump wins… Listen, America is still not a dictatorial state, he will not introduce fascism. But it will be a kind of big awakening. New political processes will be set in motion, will be triggered. But I am well aware that things are very dangerous here, not only all this white supremacy groups… But listen, Trump openly said – and as an opportunist he will probably do it – you know how important in United States the Supreme Court is, he’s already said he will nominate right-wingers. So there are dangers. I’m just afraid that Hillary stands for this absolute inertia, the most dangerous one! Because she is a cold warrior, and so on, connected with banks, pretending to be socially progressive.'

Not him, but I think the distinction is increasingly muddled nowadays. With liberals embracing critical race theory, they're crossing over into traditionally leftist theory and bringing it to the mainstream. Many of the "leftists" I'm friends with claim to reject identity politics in favor of traditional class conciousness, but I suspect that's mostly posturing and attempting to distinguish themselves from the liberal mainstream. When push comes to shove, liberals and leftists will ultimately agree on the same points and pursue the same political agenda, albeit their pace and methods will differ. Is it wrong to compare American liberals to Mensheviks and American leftists to Bolsheviks? I'm just thinking out loud here. Curious to hear others' thoughts on this.

I think we should replace liberal/left/right distinctions with pro status quo and anti status quo. When it comes to the left in particular, I thtink that after the collapse of soviet union they struggle to legitimize their own position in any meaningful way so they are too eager to fight under the banner of idpol and other class unrelated struggles. Its their condition of existing. I think thats why the distinctions become blurred between liberals and leftists. And thats why its not operative anymore to appeal to them.

Reading this thread I have to ask why do Americans think the entire world revolves around them? That they are living history and no other country matters in the grand scheme of the world? The reality of your situation is that you are about to lose your place as the rank 1 economy and when that happens you will be forced to either switch to a robotic workforce or reduce wages massively to stay competitive, either one of these will massively increase poverty and unemployment half your population will be rendered useless after the 3rd technological revolution, unless of course you have developed some new weapons system which supersedes ABC warfare and you plan on taking out all economic opponents.

The narcissism displayed in some of these replies staggers me, it's almost as if some of you believe that 200 years from now history classes worldwide will be talking about US history from 2010-2030.

Can someone explain this mentality to me? Is it just a longing to win and be remembered causing a form of psychosis?

It just comes down to who has the better surveillance technologies and weapons. America *is* Amazon, Microsoft, and Google. There is no America outside of these.
I think China can surpass America especially with its breakthrough in memristor technology, which can have tremendous impact on the future of computing and thus create more advanced surveillance technologies with more energy-efficient IoT. America is following suit and has created conditions to follow China's model to amp up surveillance technologies (e.g., Azure and AWS data centers are spreading even more now).
>reduce wages or increase unemployment.
America's "strength", which I consider stemming from evil (though China is not much better), surpasses the need of its own people. That's why global elite like World Economic Forum and more center their attention on America.
Also, I agree with a lot of "conspiracies" on the vaccine. I think it's being done to make people sicker since the future world order won't require working class as it exists now. Furthermore, house prices will rise to the point where a sharing economy will be pushed more, which I suspect is why polyamory is being pushed more than monogamy now (i.e., sharing of partners --> sharing of households, products, etc.)

For me, it’s the McChicken. The best fast food sandwich. I even ask for extra McChicken sauce packets and the staff is so friendly and more than willing to oblige.

One time I asked for McChicken sauce packets and they gave me three. I said, “Wow, three for free!” and the nice friendly McDonald’s worker laughed and said, “I’m going to call you 3-for-free!”.

Now the staff greets me with “hey it’s 3-for-free!” and ALWAYS give me three packets. It’s such a fun and cool atmosphere at my local McDonald’s restaurant, I go there at least 3 times a week for lunch and a large iced coffee with milk instead of cream, 1-2 times for breakfast on the weekend, and maybe once for dinner when I’m in a rush but want a great meal that is affordable, fast, and can match my daily nutritional needs.

We're already serving corporations, sadly. Think tanks work in close coordination with multinational corporations and write much of foreign and domestic policy in advanced. Elected politicians are just actors.

After the 40s or 50s, American oligarchs did their best to destroy communal culture and integrity. It started gradually at first, but then it culminated with influx of non-white immigrants, giving blacks social mobility, growing tentacles of businesses, and more. I would say they were largely successful. America is now a big labyrinth of interconnected factories.
This pattern is happening in most Western European countries too. For example, Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP will destroy Scotland's cultural integrity and way of life.

I've lived my entire life in the United States, that is what I'm personally revolving around. I care deeply about what happens to my nation because I'm in it, not out of any sense of historical grandeur.
I don't really know too much about the modern politics of other nations, at least not enough to comment on them in any intelligent way.
>it's almost as if some of you believe that 200 years from now history classes worldwide will be talking about US history from 2010-2030.
Obviously it won't be that specific of a time frame, but the ascendance of China over the Western powers will be kind of a big deal and the US is front and center for that.
