The vicious cycle of /lit/:

>Hey guys! I have some questions about the symbology of 1984 . . .
>Get the fuck out, 15 year old. We ain't doing your homework for you.
>Okay.jpeg

>/lit/, you guys are fucking worthless. Not a single thread about literature, just tripfag circlejerks.

Discuss.

That's true. Much respect to you Strad. You were very helpful in that Macbeth thread.

I AM LITERARY TIRED OF THE TRIPFAGS ON /lit/

>> No.1803659

Allow me to explain. Anon does the least it can possibly do to gain the most it possibly can, the only time most posters will ever commit themselves to extended conversation is when they are arguing. As a result, /lit/ only has threads harrassing random people and troll threads. We also have Tripthreads, which are a combination of both those and are the result of poor modding. The fact that most posters are youth and have complete anonyminity only makes it worse.

/lit/ is a very small pool of people, good books aren't written very quicky:inevitably every well-known book has already been talked about on here and people don't want to talk about them any more. Actually, I'm under the impression that most of /lit/ are extremely bored people who feed whatever off-topic shit comes their way. Hence, triptrolls and random big threads.

Most of 4chan is like this: the only thing significant about /lit/ is we have highly opinionated english majors who make the mix even more toxic. Enjoy your stay on the shittiest place on the net

Actually, I have learned a lot from people who discuss things politely once in a while. And I have imparted any knowledge I have gained from reading books. I am not an English major neither do I specialize in any particular area. Today, I have been contributing to threads with real merit. Then once or twice a day we have a big row when a tripcoder or anon attempts to cause a fight.
All in all, /lit/ is productive as long as we stop considering ourselves legion anon or trying to attention whore. Helping people with their homework occasionally spawns real discussion. "Her glasses were a metaphor for life?!? I thought it was blah blah"

Keep on fighting the good fight, Strad.

Really, do litfags enjoy symbolism much? It seems so tedious to me. Oh green means go? That suddenly makes this book not shit. Every English class in school.

Can't "literature" have interesting ideas without much symbolism? Books about nothing but characters and symbols and shit bore me.

>> No.1803713

Symbolism is for english majors to discuss if they want to. We can just discuss fun books that interest us

Just go back to watching some Vin Diesel movie then and stop trying to actually think about anything.

SO DEEP I WONDER WHY THIS FICTIONAL CHARACTER DID THIS. I watch chinese cartoons for that...

This is what I mean btw. Litfags are so superficial. You might as well just go socialize if abstract ideas are too hard for you.
