Is everyone just going to pretend this isn't a poor way to write an essay? Its purposefully obstructive to readers, and drop you nascent arrogances of claiming he'd do right by already being a polyglot.

>>17943755
why not write a friend or acquaintance who can translate it for you

Is it a poor way to write an essay?
Perhaps.
Is it stupid to complain about it?
Yes, now go back where you came from.

You all are fucking retarded if you defend this kind of outdated editing practices.
How much fucking effort would it be to provide a translation in a footnote? It's just obnoxious posturing.

Everybody is capable of understanding that this practice is nonsense.
If you're pretending that it's not an issue you're being a pseud.
The only way in which it's justified to not provide a translation for the Latin phrase you inserted is if you're trying not to be understood.
And that's rarely the case, especially in non-fiction.

>> No.17946719

Not translating French and Latin is acceptable as long as only one is used throughout
Not translating any other language (particularly Greek) is fucking retarded

>> No.17946807

Had this exact same issue with his essay on Baudelaire
