Hi /lit/, this is my first post here, I come to you our of desperation, I feel inadequate in comparison to my peers in terms of being intelligent, I don't feel as though I have an opinion or am able to think critically anymore, I have tried to start reading but I find it hard to retain ANY information, is anyone able to advise on how I can improve my charisma, critical thinking etc. Thanks

I started a journal, but I seem to just not be consistent with anything, I only watch some TV shows when getting high, I don't watch any daytime TV etc,

Appreciate the feedback anymore ?

Read in your reading level. Don't try to read Nietzsche if you've never read Aristotle.

Summarize what you've read, after you've read it. And write the summary with a pencil, not a keyboard.

Allow yourself to quit a book you hate in order to move onto a new one.

Hi there anon. Intelligence, diligence, conscientiousness, and extrovertedness are determined by genes. If you are less intelligent or charismatic than your peers, then, to use incel-speak, you've lost the the genetic lottery, which is okay. Get a haircut, read books you feel interested in, no one really retains much of what they read anyway. Chase after girls in your own league. If it doesn't work out you can always off yourself.
Best regards.

keep in mind that you must always read the shit you have interest in. if you keep branching from tree to tree without diving into a topic you'll have read a lot of books about a bunch of different topics without any real depth. You'll read one russian book here, then a history book there, a book about art over there, a chinese book over here, and you'll know a bit of those topics on its own but never fully understand them. you like Greek philoosphy? then dive deep into it. You like Russian literature? then dive deep into it. you might not know much about Chinese poetry then, but at least you'll really know a specific topic of your interest, that you LIKE studying.

also lurk moar newfag

Thanks for the info lmao, I'm not genetically inferior, I just feel as though I don't progress knowledge as well as I should, but thanks for the advice I will never heed it.

I guess reading different topics helps one discover their interests so I think what you said is half true. There's nothing wrong with diversifying in order to help attain a broad knowledge..

but what if someone wants to know a little about many different things

>> No.17903836

Honestly read what helps you the most, I spent years reading to try to understand people but in the end it didn't help me in the slightest.

>> No.17903845

>>17903814
yes sure but you don't need to read what you are not interested in. if you search what you want to read or want to know, then you'll naturally obtain knowledge in that topic, focusing on it over others.

>>17903830
you can know a little about many different but as I said above, if you focus on what you're interested in you'll naturally obtain knowledge in that field.

First of all learn the Trivium. That and the Greeks are the basic requirements.

This is an unorthodox suggestion, but it will work.

Every week, pick a day, spend 2 hours in a graveyard at night. Reflect on the fact that you will soon be among these long forgotten graves. Time is ticking. Your chance to be someone, to do something with your life is running out. Do you want to sleep forever before you have even opened your eyes?

Wakie wakie.
