proudly ignorant posts like this should be bannable offenses. it's like when some kid is smug about having never enjoyed a book by a woman...except for frankenstein or some other ninth-grade english class-core thing

Name one comic that isn't a juvenile piece of shit or fantasy trash.

Read Asterios Polyp, /lit/. I strongly recommend it. You won't be dissapointed, I swear.

Also, anything by Chris Ware such as Jimmy Corrigan - The Smartest Kid on Earth.

They are visual literature at its best

Graphic novels are literary forms as well as graphic art forms; the difference being a single franchise has multiple authors, universes, and stages.
I love all books, but graphic novels have pictures.
That's really the only difference.

Asterios Polyp is really glorious, just a fuckin joy to read. I have mad respect for Chris Ware but his usual schtick doesn't really vibe with me on a visceral level

jimmy corrigan is some brilliant shit, i think that or ice haven by daniel clowes could easily be taught in a lit class

And this one was written by a Pulitzer winner. It wasn't too good! When is Junot Diaz going to give in to inevitability and write his own mediocre comic book?
