Basically I just wrote a whole bunch of mini essays on everything from Plato's Republic to the Bane Plane Scene. Then I connected them loosely with a ramshackle plot of an autistic guy interacting in cringeworthy conversations with random people. The essays are the autistic guys inner monologues between events.

Not that anon, but simply put this story of yours is incredibly unrefined. I recommend that you read through it again, correct linguistic errors, overall just rewrite it. I know this may sound like me arbitrarily waving off your labours, but such things will be the bare minimum of what you'll have to do if you actually want this to result in an published book.

Hey man, really enjoying this so far. It has personality and it's not dripping in the world-hating edge typical of this place. It's more playful and irreverent. I don't read much postmodern stuff (I'm more of a 19th-century realist guy) but I get that vibe. I think it's well written and funny. Good job. Who are your influences?

My main influences were people like Vonnegut and Camus. Specifically Slaughter House Five and The Stranger. I felt the books could've both could've been really funny if they were straight comedies (SlaughterHouse was funny but it was kinda dark).

>> No.17795590

>>17795518
It's not just that, over usage of fullstops, clunky writing style, I could go on. If you wish to actually make this into a book, it will need to be in pristine shape before a publisher considers it, and even after that they will most likely have you rewrite it multiple times.

Sorry anonymous author I have tapped out after the socratic dialogue and the 4chan spergery. While it wasn't the worst thing I've read all day, your ideas were pretty shitty, the same can't be said for your dialogue or interactions; that is funny shit.

So write something with the wit you show, and please drop the wannabe retarded philosophical synopses. Because autism in literature is an untapped market ready to be exploited.

I like the concept of a day in the life of a jejune autist. The combination of action and thought is done quite well

My main problem with it, however, is that the writing feels quite artificial and contrived. (This is distinct from the effect of the writing e.g. Camus in the Outsider produces the effect of artificiality without his writing feeling artificial.) If this is a first draft (well done!), I would consider making another draft

Another criticism is the philosophical disgressions seem quite commonplace e.g. the quantum universe theory seems like something out of Rick and Morty

With rewriting, it could be a very good work

That's the thing about writing a book that noobs don't understand. You basically just write a bunch of smaller stories, essays etc, that are tangentially connected and then slap them together and pave over any of the inconsistencies. If you can write a short story you can write a novel. Just write 15 short stories with the same characters and connect them in a vaguely believable way.
