Yes and they're all insufferable. Every last single one of em Ive met.

I watched an interview / talk between Knaussgard and Zadie Smith and it was like watching two kids play, but in the naïve way not in the innocent as wisdom way. Honestly, authors and artists seem to be insufferable on the whole. I just can't fathom how anyone can spend their whole day reading and writing and not go insane and be insane to begin with. Writing, and high art, is always, to me, luxury and to write without a job just seems absolutely insane.

you can either act likeable and harmless or get torn apart.

My problem is just all those that act like they're some sort of high-brow artist making a statement when they write genre fiction.

Like no Bill, your book isn't some critique upon the geopolitical reality we all deal with and a homage to the human condition. Its a schlocky sci-fi about space cowboys fighting alien ant people with mechs in it for some reason and it was literally written to market.

At least if you're going to discuss your book or something just admit you wanted to tell a fun story and you hoped people will buy it to pay your rent.
