Have you people ever actually read a word of Austen? She's not in the slightest angsty. Her prose is fleet-footed and ironic. She doesn't take herself seriously at all. One of her best-known works parodies the kinds of Gothic novels full of brooding sincerity and heaving, dark romance. She's far more Vanity Fair than Wuthering Heights.
