12 rules for life is only bottom tier trash if you view it as a work of academic philosophy. The way he gets across some fairly scholarly ideas, particularly psychoreligious ones, in a way that any lame-brained 80IQ idiot can understand and feel smart about understanding is honestly quite impressive and takes a considerable talent. Regardless, it's a great read for anyone who is struggling with existential over-thinking, or the opposite, lazy under-understanding, and helps re-orient oneself into a healthier, simpler mindset more conducive towards actual action in reality.

He has no advice on how to live a good life because he failed in the most basic elements of living a good life. No, the usual criticism is that his self-help stuff would be okay, if not for the fact that he thinks of him as some crusader for free speech and wasn't buying more and more into it as his popularity increased. Peterson offers an alternative to wokeness which isn't identitarian, but instead based on classical liberal values. Parts of the media and elites love this, because the rise in white, right wing identitarianism as a reaction to SJWs is currently making them shit themselves. Peterson offers an alternative to disillusioned and lost young men (who at this point are close to being the majority) which still allows the globohomo agenda to continue.

SJWs don't understand this and attack him for being alt right. What they don't understand is that Peterson is the ultimate anti alt right. If normal people actually woke up to this degree, if unions and vigorous social movements actually reappeared, they would absolutely crash national economies, crash the world economy, start wars all over the fucking place.
