Which translation has the best insults? Homeric insults are always the highlights for me and I'm gearing up for a second read.

Just keep reading all other translations while learning Homeric Greek then read it in original and keep rereading it.

Every other text is worse.

In what way can Plato compare to Homer, Shakespeare and Dante other than having signifiance for our civilization?

I always get sad when I see statements like this because I know if you had just been introduced to classics (great literature) when you were young, you wouldn't be saying things like "I haven't finished anything in 4 months". Instead, you'd have a lifelong appreciation for literature. Let's keep pretending it's worth it to make 12 year olds read Chinua Achibe 400 times though.

I've got the copy of Fagles' Iliad from Z-Lib but the formatting on my Kindle (through Calibre) doesn't format it with the stanzas properly separated.

I'm probably just going to buy the physical copy because I don't like the Iliad looking like it was formatted as a modern novel. Any tips to fix this are appreciated anons

it's the shotgun method, I tried the real sequel, the spiritual successor and an algorithm-tier rec, if none of these are correct then provide your own instead of just dismissing this. No "muh plato" or history books - reading real war accounts drives me to starting a productive social life

Well for one, Shakespeare’s literature is a thousand times better than Homer’s. There’s more depth in a single scene of Shakespeare than all of Homer

And, according to you, this somehow answers the question of comparing Plato to the remaining three?
