one last bump before it dies away.

I can only recommend Roadside Picnic for this one, which is well known and the movie that was based on it was even better. The little sci-fi that I've read takes place away from earth so, despite the bad turn of events we don't really get to see it. What about you anon?

The Postman, The Road, Mad Max (film series), the Seaworld (film) are the ones that come to my mind right now.

I've read the book and the film and both are quite good, actually, anon.

Right, I've read the Road too but didn't think about, it was good but quite a downer. I should check the Postman out.
I agree, the book is very good but STALKER and a few other Tarkovsky movies are excellent or even masterpieces (I'm also particularly fond of Andrey Rublev.) Didn't mean to underrate Roadside Picnic

I meant to say Waterworld, sorry.

No worries, I didn't even think that it was the wrong name earlier, Costner just appeared.
