If your super serious Catechism of the Catholic Church is the go to- its fairly long but its got everything you need in terms of answers to questions and general dogma, also helps its authorised by the church. For bibles new Jerusalem is a common one especially for catholic schools, but desu its not that serious, ESV is very readable and KJV is written arguably the best in terms of quotability- so whatever. Outside of that its up to you, just check on the the /lit charts on it and pick what you want. God be with you and good luck

Give this a spin. Read it while I worked for a month on a catholic run boat. Gave me a bigger respect for religious people and christianity in general, and the language is easy to digest.

Unironically though, as long as you don't become a protestant it's fine, Protestantism exists in one of two ways: 1. a Commie psy op, 2. an excuse to be sinful(the sola fide meme).

Ah yes, the old "sola fide is antinomianism" meme. I can see you've done your research.

Good to hear that you’re deciding to become a Catholic. May I ask what made you want to leave Islam and join a Christian denomination? It may be easier to help if we know your background.

RCIA is literally class you take to convert to Catholicism where they teach you about all of the meaningful practices and doctrine to become a Catholic. You'll have a good teacher and people to talk with.

I live in a Christian country and I could make up some reasons as to why I converting, but that would be pointless. I largely go by my feeling and I am experiencing some incongruities with trying to commune with the divine, and I'm following the path of least resistance.

I suggest you start with the Bible. I recommend something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/1414307152

It contains the easier to read NLT Bible as well as the KJV translation, which is widely regarded as best translation in the English language.

>> No.17634539

Pray, read the Bible, talk to the Priest in your local Catholic Church, until you can eventually be baptized and confirmed so you officially become a member of the Catholic Church. It’s easy. I’d imagine Jesus is a big part of it too.

How are you an ex-Muslim living nowhere nearer to Orthodoxy than Catholicism? Do you live in Northwestern Europe?

>> No.17635100

>>17634433
There is nothing wrong with American converts to Orthodoxy. Catholics seemingly would actually have you feel ashamed to believe in the true faith because of your nationality. They actually make room for religion to be downstream of nationality. It tells you everything you need to know imo.

DO NOT READ THIS CATECHISM. It represents the Second Vatican Council which is not true Catholicism and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Read the Catechism of the Council of Trent and look for the closest Society of Saint Pius X church. Traditional Latin Mass and no new-age SJW nonsense.

Don’t bother, Steven Anderson is a cult leader and these are all probably /pol/-tier conspiracy videos. Right-wing evangelicals think the Catholic Church is some satanic cabal.
Here’s a good video that gives you an idea of the basics of Catholicism (even though it is somewhat catered towards a Protestant viewer):

OP, you sound like you would like to learn more about Jesus Christ. After all, I know Jesus is highly respected in Islam, but your interest in Catholicism suggests that you would like to go further, and accept him as your Lord.

So, in that regard, I would actually recommend three books written by Pope Benedict XVI: the Jesus of Nazareth series. They are essentially an examination of the life of Jesus from a Catholic perspective, using the narrative flow of the Gospels as their grounding point. If you would like to find out what the Catholic Church teaches about Jesus, then these books are perfect. They're not hard to read, either.
