They're completely different. ASOIAF is essentially a giant dark soap opera with swords in not-England. Bakker's work is a cosmic inversion of Tolkien with heavy philosophical and religious undertones. I do think ASOIAF is more "entertaining," and a lighter read in general, whereas Bakker is so crushingly heavy and dark that it often strays into the absurd (something the author knows and indulges).

Sanderson doesn't deserve the hate he gets. He's a phenomenal worldbuilder, and his magic systems are fascinating - so fascinating that most ya authors and all upcoming witters are trying to copy him.
His critics may argue that his prose is weak, but it's not. Basic? Yes. But weak? No. Sanderson's prose is based around painting a picture in your head with as little words as possible. He's not trying to be flowery or poetic, and he's not trying to break new ground in the medium. He's simply trying to tell a damn good story, which he does, by brilliantly executing tropes in a satisfactory manner.
Sanderson is easily a top 10 fantasy writer of the current era, bakker autism be damned.

I just don't like Sanderson's writing. It's always the same thing, he starts off with interesting characters but then ruins them. Kaladin was interesting to follow in the first book, but now he's a mopey faggot who is in the middle of some forced love triangle. I read half of "The Last Wish", the first book in the series, a couple of years ago and I did not enjoy it. Mostly because it was an anthology of short stories with very little depth in terms of characters, plot, and theme. However, I'm attempted to give it another chance because they've recieve so much praise; and I've heard that the later books are more serial in nature.

I've just finished the second Prince of Nothing book. Cnaur being a tsundere while getting along with Proyas and Saubon was great. I liked the setting and the characters in the series so far.

Cersei corrupts him and drags him into moral depravity, depravity that he cannot deny because he loves and wants to protect her. And when Jamie meets his heroes? He's shellshocked? The knights of legend - warriors of unprecedent swordsmanship, chilvary, and honor, are nothing more than glorified thugs upholding the rule of a tyrant. Through peer pressure and a lack of power, Jamie was forced to be a bystander as he watched these atrocities unfold before him; but even Jamie could not stand as the King planned to execute a whole city's population of people. He broke his oath - his very honor to save the people and he became an outcast for it. He did what none of the "heroes" of his era could do and he was ridiculed and hated for it, treated as no better than a traitor when he was the true hero of the day.
The only people who didn't treat him like scum were his family but three people is not enough for a person's mental stability. Which is why he fell back into his relationship with Cersei, she understood him, she loved him. And because of this he gave in to the nurturing of his environment and became a "monster". He did everything to protect her and his children - though it stressed him to hell and back since he wasn't a bad person.
This is why, when Jamie loses his hand - his warrior's pride and his connection with Cersei for months, he becomes a changed man. Because he's finally grown in an environment where he cannot be corrupted. Which is why he rejects his abusive relationship with Cersei and begins to take a path towards redemption.
