Stephen Fry’s series is very accessible, and his prose is quite clever.

I’d go through that 1st just to get a quick baseline, then dive into Edith Hamilton. If you go in cold, you’ll miss so much context...swallow your pride and embrace something outside “THE CANNON”...it’ll help you in the long run.

bullfinch is of interest historically speaking because it was the standard greek mythology collection in america before hamilton's was published. so basically every american author between 1867 and 1950 read bullfinch as a boy
