1758636 No.1758636 [Reply] [Original]

"God and Mankind have concerned themselves for nothing, for nothing but themselves.. Individuals wear themselves out in their service, and when they have accomplished their needs, they are thrown on the dung-heap of history, in gratitude...By the manure of their corpses, nations have come into bloom...
Let me then likewise concern myself for nothing but myself, I, who am equally with God the nothing of all others...
You think at least the 'good cause' must be my concern? What's good, what's bad? Why, I myself am my concern, and I am neither good nor bad...
I am the supreme Emptiness, from which I myself, as GOD and CREATOR, create everything.

All things are nothing to me."

Well to be fair, the ideas in Ecclesiastes were stolen from earlier sources, and so on..but yeah this kind of "supreme emptiness" talk can be found in a much more poetic form in Ecclesiastes, no lie. I wouldn't have believed it either, but there it is..an existentialist novella tucked into the long horrible Old Testament.

ecclesiastes is rad as hell, let's be honest here

That's interesting, i guess...but I'm sure it's not about the same thing...I doubt the jew bible would be advocating the removal of ideology...

Yeah in the end it kind of punks out..I don't know..I'm not sure if I totally understand the very last part of Ecclesiastes, but for most of the book it is pretty much anti-ideology
