what people do ends up as the sum of society, and does in fact affect you in ways minor and major even if you pretend otherwise or try to accept its invasion. it's a cope for just not thinking about it and pretending it's all good, hoping it doesn't rear its head near you. basically cowardice, conformism, passivity. well in line with modern culture. one of the reasons democracy or serious political action in general doesn't work.
