Aristotle says monarchy is the best system if the ruler is good, not a tyrant. Any books on how you'd make sure the king is good? What kind of succession law would you have that avoids democracy and aristocracy but gives you a good ruler?

Any books that explore why Monarchy went away from a technical standpoint and not just "muh french revolution"? Like what mechanisms lead to it being outcompeted.

And on the flipside, books that don't just try and state the case for Monarchy but theorize its revival would be of interest as well

Nietzsche and Marx, unironically. They both give you good reasons, not normatively, but practically speaking as to how it occurred, but you have to read between the lines and establish your own viewpoint somewhere in between (which is to say, don't take their theorizing as gospel). Evola, again unironically, builds upon both, but he doesn't do so in the same amount of detail, at least not the same detail as Marx, and it's spread out over his writings (Evola, btw, did not assert that the French Revolution was the "cause", only the first and most evident effect of deeper causes). In terms of specific books for the first two, The Genealogy of Morals, Beyond Good and Evil, and Twilight of the Idols (at least). Note that the meaning of the historical destruction of monarchy cannot be viewed through a lens that is not trans-ethical, hence the need/relevance of Nietzsche. For Marx, it's simply Das Kapital, but mainly the chapters dealing with the historical emergence of modern capitalism, which is directly tied to the downfall of effective monarchy (even if constitutional monarchy remains).
>books that don't just try and state the case for Monarchy but theorize its revival would be of interest as well
That would be Evola again. Men Among the Ruins to start with, then Revolt and Pagan Imperialism (the latter is more of an artistic/polemical work than anything, whereas the others are more technical).

Looks like Aquinas answers this in Summa Theologica. He suggests a mix of all 3, like how Moses ruled the Jews along with 72 electable elders.
>Accordingly, the best form of government is in a state or kingdom, where one is given the power to preside over all; while under him are others having governing powers: and yet a government of this kind is shared by all, both because all are eligible to govern, and because the rules are chosen by all. For this is the best form of polity, being partly kingdom, since there is one at the head of all; partly aristocracy, in so far as a number ofpersonsare set in authority; partly democracy, i.e. government by the people, in so far as the rulers can be chosen from the people, and the people have the right to choose their rulers. >Such was the form of government established by the Divine Law. ForMosesand his successors governed the people in such a way that each of them was ruler over all; so that there was a kind of kingdom. Moreover, seventy-two men were chosen, who were elders invirtue: for it is written (Deuteronomy 1:15): "I took out of your tribes wise and honorable, and appointed them rulers": so that there was an element of aristocracy. But it was a democratical government in so far as the rulers were chosen from all the people; for it is written (Exodus 18:21): "Provide out of all the people wise [Vulgate: 'able'] men," etc.; and, again, in so far as they were chosen by the people; wherefore it is written (Deuteronomy 1:13): "Let me have from among you wise [Vulgate: 'able'] men," etc. Consequently it is evident that the ordering of the rulers was well provided for by theLaw.

triple of truth
empire is not monarchy but a kind of dictatorship brought by direct military power.
Like all dictatorships it lacks the legitimacy of monarchy and it's inherently instable. At any point another military leader can decide to try and usurp power.
That is an important lesson to learn from Roman history.

Read Tocqueville’s book on the French Revolution. It’s about how monarchy fell due to the centralization of the state, which weakened the power of the local nobility. Once the local nobility lost their duties of governance, their privileges became absurd. And as the government centralized and high offices became available to the middle class, the prerogative of birth became absurd too. It’s not just muh storming of the Bastaille.

The only way I see it being revived is for it to organically develop again from a de facto monarchal system in the same way the Roman Republic transitioned to the Principate and later the Dominate

And of course -- you have a hand of restorationist movements that might quietly implement a constitutional monarchy like Georgia

Anyway, the big thing blocking it currently is probably the United States of America; Once it goes away in one form or the other things will open up ideologically again.

>which weakened the power of the local nobility. Once the local nobility lost
This is the big one; I do not believe Absolute Monarchies are sustainable, whereas Despotic Monarchies can continue indefinitely until outside forces exert enough pressure on them.
