Have a snow related poem

The King of Flames awakens to the Northern Queen

heavy hoarfrost has covered all
the northern wind whistles and blows
as pale Boreas blessed snows fall
with hail, as slushy water flows
past my window I see there grows
a blue rose alive among ice
and a voice calls out to me twice

“I crown me with the crooked limbs
of the frost befallen giants
and greater are my silent hymns
than the treasures of the tyrants
pluck the Rose abhorrent of spring
it is my silver marriage ring”

I listened to the voice that singed
softer than the sweetest maiden
was it my own rev’ry that ringed
or some spirit I’ve mistaken?
unless I grab the Rose it seemed
it would remain something I dreamed

I deemed this too much and hurried
towards the blue rose I journeyed
i neared and felt something quite queer
my chest’s warmth grew as I came near
towards that blue gem set in white
I grasped it and saw a bright light

in my hand I now held a ring
and I without fearing frostbite
wore it to see what it would bring
suddenly it turned into night
yet I tasted not bitter sting
and my eyes opened and gained sight

all around me fell blue petals
and each petal burnt hot as flame
but not the flame which melts metals
nor the flame of the devil’s shame
the flame’s name and love are the same
though It was an inner fire
it felt ice cold of desire

now wrapped in a blanket of blue
another flash, all is now snow
I heard her again “now go through
walk this path and I you will know”
but I could no longer now go
my body was fully broken
but the flame remained unbroken

my form was naught but snow and ice
but I held on to my inner heat
I tried getting up even thrice
towards she who’s voice was so sweet
I went out to marry and meet
suddenly my form had shattered
and all of me was now scattered

but my soul and my flame were one
though now as a servant of flame
I swore that this path shall be done
and her who’s voice cries I will claim
i darted as a flame that spun
and spiraled across the cold road
her wind whistle was my sole goad

I was now in a northern land
I felt such a euphoria
as I beheld a sight so grand
she was Purple winged boreia
Ice was her crown and her scepter
she shined clear white like a specter
or a phantasmagoria

though I a flame and she winter
we embraced and my form returned
reformed from ashes and cinder
and I grasped the bride I had earned
for whom my soul had burned and yearned

her flame and my frost then married
they became one in self and kind
all differences were emptied
and we became one gentle mind

I only read the first book but didn't really get the impression that the bridgeburners were a group of mage-killers, more renegades trying to survive and salvage Thier situation. Even if the future books have some of that I'm more or less thinking of a story that revolves completely around that. Something heavily character driven. Honestly at this point I'm asking someone to write it for me because I don't expect something so specific to exist

Aside from being really preachy, there's a part near the end where Richard saves himself from a dose of poison by using his magical gift to guess which herbs to use for an antidote. Felt really cheap. Technically, he could have done this within the first 200 pages. But wait, his gift is fueled by "need and anger". In other words, he has plot armor.

I’m a proud and vocal Bakkerfag but desu I don’t necessarily “respect” his writing as “literature” given its many, many flaws. Rather, I simply enjoy the madness, grandiosity, strangeness and obsessive, lurid, original, imaginative quality of it all. He can certainly write a stunning passage, but that doesn’f mean everything he writes is perfect, or that he’s some kind of Mishima, Bulgakov or Blake in terms of literary quality. Fantasy is kind of a hack genre at its core, just enjoy it for what it is desu.

does anyone have any recommendations for anything similar to Pandora's Star/Judas Unchained? I read a couple of other works by the author, Peter F. Hamilton, and once I recognized the flaws, I just can't read any more of his shit. He had this really clever, good world-building sci fi with some decent philosophical/moral underpinnings, but writes women and intimacy like a teenager writing fanfiction. It's terrible.

i was probably as disposed toward liking these books as i could be (other author recommendations, other readers who i often trust, nothing else to distract me, etc.) and i was EXTREMELY underwhelmed.

there are decent characters outside of killhouse, some good world-building, but WAAAY too much of the books is nonsense masquerading as substance.

bakker has largely tricked his most diehard readers into thinking there really is something meaningful in his books, but all it is is LotR but everyone dies at the end and so much gay rape, to the point where you have to wonder if Bakker had some horrible childhood experience he is trying to expiate in his writing.

it's funny to spam memes about it because it's not as well-known and it is pretty ridiculous when viewed from a distance, but it is rather stupid after a time.

i’m actually one who enjoys certain generic (as in, specific to genre) features, when done right with a fresh spin. i generally prefer creative spins on not-elves, not-orcs, not-middle kingdoms, not-barbaric northmen to worldbuilding that tries desperately hard to be completely novel and original. tropes are what make a genre, tropes done interestingly are what make a genre work unique.

a pity indeed. western globalization has lead to a sort of 'individualization' so unlike anything we've seen before, that in 50 years I wouldn't be surprised if a) the family unit is dead b) sex was viewed unfavorably, and instead everyone masturbated in VR and c) the working class becomes split into i) those that work from home and stare at other talking heads all day and ii) those that work in the factories.

I heard a theory that the Ark was only one of thousands or millions that the Progenitors sent out across the universe. Like a scout vessel or forward landing craft to cleanse and prepare a planet for the later arrival of a Progenitor mothership. Yes. The character has zero flaws and is a boring sociopath, that is also generous and noble, but also ruthless, but also empathetic, sometimes short-sighted, often visionary, is a good friend, but also a traitor... It's on par with Mary Sue fanfiction, which makes me think it's a self-insert.

It wasn't that nuanced, you give yourself too much credit. I know he was an autist capable of mimicking a thousand emotions while manipulating everyone around him with his mind tricks. A flawless character predetermined to just make everyone kneel before him while single-handedly fighting entire armies and learning magical concepts requiring years of training in a single afternoon, extremely boring and a straight-up YA Mary Sue. >A flawless character
That's what it look like to a dumbass who didn't pay attention. If an OP moral hero conquers all and is flawless, why do you think Kellhus is depicted as an autistic sociopath? Would you consider a manipulative monster a flawless character?
A barbarian can sort of fend his mind tricks because he had been exposed to his kind.
The moment he casts any magic he's damned, according to the Tusk. Sending your soul straight to hell is flawlessness? He's almost killed when he's put in the circumfix.
>entire armies
Only a couple companies must have charged that peak.
>learning magical concepts requiring years of training in a single afternoon
It took him two weeks just to learn the esoterics or whatever the non soul damning part of the Gnosis was.

What you still fail to realize is that, by our moral standards, Kellhus and the Dunyan are monsters. (Spoilers up to the 3rd and 4th books of the second series)
The remaining Dunyan in Ishual got royally fucked by thousands of notOrcs and Consult mages. Plus, their whole philosophy was probably wrong to begin with. His son literally jumps off a cliff when he realizes this. It's not flawless if they get that fucked up. Plus, Kellhus still makes mistakes where it matters the most.
