Pretty trippy book that theorizes that learning and trauma can begin when your a fetus. He talks about these four stages of embryonic development. You start as this happy being floating in space with all your food and comforts taken care of. Then things start to get a little dark, then really dark. After that, you push with all your might to break through to the light and then you are born. One of the cooler things I learned from the book is that people with a choking fetish likely had the umbilical chord wrapped around there neck. It was an alright book overall. I would recommend if you are interested in trauma and psychology

But he is mostly known for his bondage and avant garde bdsm rope pictures which I want more of, but those are a bit more rare and exspensive.

Shelf-size can often be deceiving though. A friend of mine used to have a really small library but that's because when he bought a book and read it, if he didn't think he'd read it again he'd sell it and buy another one, and so on. The end result was a small library of about 50 books or so, but he had read probably hundreds of books in reality

Short stories and poetry (Cuentos y poesia)
- Leopoldo Lugones ( "Las estatuas de sal and "Yzur" are short stories you can read in minutes, after that yyou should try "la guerra gaucha" and "Antologia Poetica")
- Oliverio Girondo (Obras completas).
- Mamerto Menapace (he writes short stories and parables)

If you want to dig latinas then you can read poetry from:
- Mario Benedetti
- Gabriela Mistral
- Pablo Neruda

Also, Roberto Arlt. He has some few of his books in English but most of his work is untranslated. "El juguete rabioso", "El amor brujo", "Los siete locos" are pretty good.

I don't have a problem with that because I find well-stocked study rooms really pleasant to look at, and gives me motivation to build up my own collection more. I know it's shallow but I don't care, so long as he takes decent care of any rare ones. Ideally a home study should be a multi-generational family collection, in which case it'll be larger than any one member of the household could read by themselves, but I realise when talking about /lit/ that's usually not the case.

I would suggest latin, it's easier and gives you a good grounding in grammar.
Plus you can have access to many more works.
Especially ancient (as most surviving copies of greek stuff is in latin) and the greatly undervalued medieval works.

Do NOT start with ride the tiger, it’s a difficult work. You could consider reading some Guenon before you read Revolt but it’s not super necessary.

On principle I don't like social networks and think the internet would be a better place if more people started having personal websites instead, so I created it as doing my part in that regard, and hope to encourage others to do the same.

I intend to make blog posts on various topics in the future (mostly on technology and politics probably) but for now I've just used it as a place to bring together various things would be too long to fit in a single post. My book collection is one example, but I also have my emacs configuration file (https://www.jonhunt.uk/config)) and current pc setup (https://jonhunt.uk/computing-setup)) for /g/ and a film watchlist for tv (https://jonhunt.uk/films-towatch).). I also have the resources page of things I find interesting.

I've not set up a means of contacting me yet but my intention is also to have it as a way to receive questions, recommendations, requests etc.

It's a long term list of classics I want to acquire (not all at once dear god I don't have that kind of money) and an incomplete list at that but

The conceit was primarily meant to humorously illustrate the danger of dealing with such an absurdly tall bookshelf. I had no one reference in mind, but cobbled several together, in a pastiche. Since you ask, I will give a very dull explanation of everthing I had in mind.

-"Jeeves" refers to the idea of a butler or servant, from the Jeeves and Wooster series.
-fancy wooden ladders are well known in older bookstores and libraries. The room would require a much taller one.
-spiral staircases are associated with tryhard library and gentleman's study rooms. In particular, The Haunting depicted an unstable spiral staircase in a library.
-I saw a scissor-lift at work the other day. I've been in several workplaces with them, but never got to operate one.
-Free-climbing refers to indoor climbing gyms with knobby-things on the walls, a bit like those columns.
-"Jeevesy" is a pure reference to Jack's addressing of Grady in The Shining.
