I thought it was going to be some badass action-packed futuristic marines drama with moral quandaries and anti-heroes

instead it's a bunch of "look how the military does things you guys! this SURE IS a military story! you can tell because every other word is military jargon!"

you can tell it was written by a military guy but he was in the service way before I was born

my point was that he goes out of his way to show off how "military" his characters are to the point where it's annoying and feels poseurish, like a paper pusher who gets out of the army and says RESPECT ME I WAS AN AIRBORNE RANGER HOOAH

the military jargon in the book is either invented or outdated because I didn't recognize much specific terminology, just the way it was phrased

regardless, not my cup of tea. and the beginning takes WAY to long to get started

Well, how did you feel about his attitude towards politics and the military? Like did you feel like the political message was bullshit or something?

I felt like he sort of overglorified the role of the military in society way too much and had some slightly twisted political ideas personally but I'm not sure what your take on that is.
