That book is absolute fiction that portrays the Taliban as pederasts and literally Nazis when in fact their rise in local support had to do with combating pederasty which the secularists supported (and whom later America supported). The author was invited to the White House by President George W. Bush because he loved his propaganda so much

Unironically, start with the Q'ran. The read the Sunna.
For an historic insight, The Islam by Karen Armstrong is good.

Quran itself. Read it backwards through the chapters as the shorter ones are at the back if its easier. Then either hadith literature (al-Bukhari is good) or the bible without all the roman testament's distortions at the end.

We don't need a religion these days imo. We need a living relationship with the One, living, eternal God based on the remnants of authentic monotheistic traditions.

That would depend on what you mean by Sufi but the broadest, most popular title is The Revival of the Religious Sciences. This book has some flaws, notably Al-Ghazali is careless with the strength of the Hadiths he uses, but it remains a sufi classic that even many Salafis respect

[Brother! You wanted a few words of advice from me, so listen to a few truths
included in eight short stories, which since you are a soldier, are in the form of
comparisons of a military nature. I consider my own soul to need advice more
than anyone, and at one time I addressed my soul at some length with Eight
Words inspired by eight verses of the Qur’an from which I had benefited. Now I
shall address my soul with these same Words, but briefly and in the language of
ordinary people. Whoever wishes may listen together with me.]

This is how it starts.

I read it in Turkish, i just read that first part in english and I can see how poorly it is translated.
> I addressed my soul
He don t address it to his soul but to his [nefis] wich is a part of the soul not the soul.

And in general it is much greater in turkish

The comic is in bad taste . You wouldn't get it unless you were a Muslim but a converted Jew basically started the fighting between Ali's and A'isha's armies because the members of Ali's army who killed Uthman were concerned they were going to be handed over. He's considered the first Shia and their weird doctrines and practices have gotten weirder since.

this is a phenomenon that is largely exaggerated in western media. it is unironically a jewish plot to try to create hatred between muslims. the real conflict in the middle east is from Iran not bowing to the US, and Iran happens to be shia.

Saudi influence is very prominent in the Middle East, see for example how many countries are currently in peace talks with Israel, since the Saudis insist that Iran is a far more serious threat and it's worth allying with Isreal and the Jews to counter Shia influence.

The countries in peace talks with Israel are doing so because of America, which has bases in all of them or otherwise calls the shots, not Saud. Notice that Saud isn't in peace talks with Israel (although of course will be). The House of Saud is not pro Wahhabi teachings anymore, they lost massive credibility with the movement after begging America to come into the Middle East. Their current ruler is basically a secularist just held back by concerns of revolution, outside the Middle East he wears a suit and tie. They don't influence anyone anymore
