I what order should I read his stuff?

>> No.17383487

In order of expanding scope, which is roughly also order of publication. Hobbit, then LOTR, then Silmarillion and others. Don't make the dumb mistake of trying to read "downward" from Eru's eye view.

Basically this, trying any other way is just kind of weird. I will also add the Children of Hurin is pretty great.

Read LotR, then Silmarillion and the Hobbit. Children of Húrin and Unfinished Tales are wonderful additions to the Middle-Earth canon.

>Among the tales of sorrow and of ruin that come down to us from the darkness of those days there are yet some in which amid weeping there is joy and under the shadow of death light that endures. And of these histories most fair still in the ears of the Elves is the tale of Beren and Lúthien.
