Creativity General!

Contrary to popular belief, I do think we have some creative minds here at /lit/. So what are you working on, or what ideas do you have for the future?

To be honest. The most insane proposal today must have been this idea of yours where someone actually reveals real ideas for real books.

You should get your neocortex checked with fMRI asap. In my objective opinionicism you are more then likely to suffer from intra-cranial pressure caused by a tumor. Have you had any nosebleedings of lately?

Well, one of my ideas is to have a prince and a princess host battles for the ill-defined 'fate of the world' using people in a sleepy college town. The Princess will take individuals and make them into crazy powerful monsters with escalating powers. The Prince will have a group of people allied with spirit animals who develop their powers over time. The main character is the snail knight who is supposed to sacrifice his life for the greater good.

I'm not worried about anyone here stealing ideas, you lack the direction and intentions I have.

Writing a short story about human interaction-ism, the main characters are a gang-member nigger-bum and the isolated princess of a snow-planet who escapes from a tyrannical father hell-bent on creating the 'perfect' human, which he calls the "all-flake". Snow imagery and slum-quirkiness everywhere, etc.

After that I'm gonna work on a short story about children spreading the ashes of a deceased grandfather, who travel to many fantasy settings and debate religion while pursued by faceless enemies.

But I've never got around to it.

Seems like satirizing religion would be pretty difficult without being too heavy handed. How would you do it?

>> No.1735342

You know, human interactions with the animals, seemingly from "god". Humans could influence the animal's world, whatever that may be.

For instance, building a dam would flood the entire area, which could be like a great flood to a colony of rats. The satire comes in the fact that humans are just as mortal as animals, but just inconceivable.

I also thought about a plot where all the religonisties die in horrible never-ending tortures by a galant charming group of vindictive youth. They kidnap the religionists and torture them in ways unimaginable (making SAW sissylike). Everybody cherishes these liberators of earth, they become rich famous and interactive with their enviornent and the end. Absolute demotivation towards religionisticism.

Mainplot: Only religionists gets pain and everybody that destroys them gets pure happiness. Simple.

It's like a chemistry/physics class only the experiments are the religionists bodies. The keyword is "slow maximum pain"

Interested of reading it? It's pretty chemo.

Wouldn't the animals see the humans as something greater than them, but less than gods? A human shrinks back from an aggressive animal--even rats-- and the workings of humanity are evident to animals, even if their motives are more difficult to discern. While I'm not saying there aren't some parallels, I don't think the analogy quite plays; especially since animals, notably beavers and termites, are quite capable of ruining what people make and do.

But I'm sure your ideas are more thought through than mine. Good luck with it!

Eh, you're right. Like I said, I just had brainstorms.

Although if it was in the middle of the woods somwhere, say turn of the century era, there would have been little contact with humans, so when the ecosystem was unbalanced, it could have been perceived as "gods".

Eventually, by the end of the book, the main animal character will have sought out the "gods", and realized their own mortality, losing religion.

In one of my favourite page the character called "the Swim" uses all the money he has gathered from his victims and buys a massive silo containing chocolate. Then from the top he pushes fat priests down into it and tells them to "Swim harder, enthusiasm is more important than rationality, you can make it!. Try praying." He mocks with them while they are drowning. They are so eager to try and they all believe they will survive that dense viscosity of melted chocolate. Of course this silo has a built in cleaning mechanism to get rid of the bodies mechanically. Also the most brute murderers become the greatest heroes in this book as well.

I have really struggled to encourage real life murder of religionists in this book.

Communism exists in that it is an idea capable of being implemented, and actually is currently in different regions; conversely, since 'the rich' is merely a class in the set of all humans, it doesn't really exist in the strict sense.

Haven't reminded myself of that in far too long . . . keep having family / beta readers quipping about how my book can't -really- be non-religious due to the setting. Worrying that's a big part of the reason no agents have taken a bite yet.

Not gonna post details here because I'm at least certain it's more deserving of a modest print-run than (yep, I'm going there) Twilight. It'll be bound and sold someday . . . hopefully sooner than later.

A story thats pretty much like the traditional 'Power corrupts, people overthrow corrupt government, they become corrupt as well when they rule' kinda idea. However, it focuses on the relation between worker and ruler. Who is truly in charge? The leader, or the worker? Obviously, both are in charge, and share the relationship, but my idea plays with the idea.
The main character is a part of a group of friends, and is the smartest one of them. They notice that their current government sucks, and seek to overthrow it. Due to Smart Guys genius, they manage to overthrow the corrupt government, putting themselves in charge. Except Smart Guy, who is content with being a simple worker, but pulls the strings in whatever way he can,
The country has little resources, so they go to war with another country. After a war over resources, the friends, whom have shared leadership, start fighting amongst themselves. Smart Guy tries his best to pull his strings to salvage the situation, but it all goes to hell, and one friend kills the others, and becomes a dictator to 'keep the citizens safe'. One friend dissappears, and creates a resistance movement. SG becomes a worker for the leader. The resistance leader is assassinated, and the SG, in a rare fit of rage, takes command, and manages to overthrow his Dictator friend after a bloody campaign. SG puts a better person in charge, and becomes an advisor, to prevent anything that bad from happening again.
The ending is bittersweet, SG has made a better future for the people, but his friends had slaughtered each other, and they are forever demonized.
What happens when you mix Code Geass, Animal Farm, and this

Allow me to explain. A leader tells the worker what to do. But its the workers choice on what he wants to do. Sure, you can put a bunch of jews to building artillery shells for a war, with the threat of death, but whats to stop those Jews from filling the shells with sand rather than gunpowder?
A leader is nothing without the support of their people and workers.
