How much reading do you do in a day?

I come here mostly to argue about which english version of the bible is the best so I actually don't read that much at all.

>>17332103
Why would you do that? It's obviously the KJV.

>> No.17332113

>>17332050
Depends. Maybe about 50 pages. More if I have something for class.

KJV is the prettiest but if you're going to do serious biblical study, NASB is the only choice.

>> No.17332126

About 3 hours although it differs widely for all sorts of different reasons.

>> No.17332134

I read for around 3-4 hours every day. Usually adds up to around 150 pages

>falling for the kjv meme
Things like 1 John 5: 7 show the kjv includes the biases of scribes inserted into scripture from the textus receptus. The kjv has value derived from its history and other factors but it's a poor translation, there are older, better sources available today to translate from.
An RSV or ESV is the ideal bible, with NASB also being good.

Some days I read for 12 hours or more, other days not at all. On average, probably somewhere between 2 and 5 hours a day.

I read nothing for 3-5 years then 4-5 books in a few months. I then just coast on that until I feel dumb again

I've been doing a lot lately but since I started reading The Tunnel it's kind of crawled along. 30 pages a day if that.
William Gass is a great writer, but he's such an academic I just can't enjoy it.

>> No.17333522

Depends what I'm reading.
Law textbook 15~ pages and I'm done, it's like reading a dictionary.
Non-descriptive prose? More than a hundred pages, I love non-descriptive prose.
Philosophy? Oof, going to have to sit down to read maybe 50~ pages depending on the author.
Information? 100+ pages.

Which is more exclusionary and conditional than "being".
