That’s the point, we don’t even have primary texts yet people will call this their favorite philosopher and tradition, when the most influenced school among them (being the stoics) is usually ignored outright. None of these hyper hedonistic modern people would stomach the level of asceticism and genuine skepticism that cynicism as far as we know entails. People just bring up Diogenes because they’re edgy and like how the stories of him being edgy to one of the greatest men in history who we actually do have the writings of. It’s genuinely a cry of the ignorant to say Diogenes is your favorite philosopher.
