Well I'm mainly interested in china up until the 20th century. I like a lot of music and art from that period and I want to learn more about it.

YOU POSTED THE PHOTOGRAPH OF A JAPANESE PAINTING, AND ASIA IS A DIVERSE CONTINENT IN ALL MANNERS, COMPRISING FROM TURKEY IN THE WEST TO JAPAN IN THE EAST; FROM MONGOLIA IN THE NORTH TO INDIA IN THE SOUTH; IF YOUR INTEREST IS CHINA, WHY DID YOU WRITE: «ASIAN CULTURE»? THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS: «AN ASIAN CULTURE».

Hmm. You know, maybe OP could learn the finer points of <Asian culture> if you just fulfilled his request and subtly brought the topic up. OP is obviously new to the subject so he’s going to use terminology that’s vague to someone who’s more versed. That’s just a natural part of learning something new

Technically, if this chart is supposed to only include works written in Prose, then it shouldn't include the Tale of the Heike, since that is actually a Poem (or, rather, an oral history interspersed with pieces of song and poetry). Moreover, the translation of the Heike in the pic should be the Tylor translation, not the McCullough one, as the Tylor translation is more accurate and captures the tone of the piece much better.

I heard In Praise of Shadows discusses the philosophy of Japanese wabi-sabi aesthetics. I feel l would prefer the old translation because I'm skeptical of new translations but the latest one is said to include a foreword by the renowned architect Kengo Kuma.

I'm reading the Analects of Confucius right now and it explains a lot about the history of Chinese thought and culture. Many are good precepts you can incorporate into your life as well.

This particular translation is especially good because the prose is simple but meaningful and a lot of thought has been put into conveying the meaning of the Chinese accurately.
