بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم و الحمدلله و الصلاة و السلام على رسول الله

To my brothers,
السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته

Taking a break from the current events portion of the series because it's a bit saddening for me right now. I'd like to do the thread on the Unseen in the Qur'an إن شاء الله

The Unseen, الغتب, in the Qur'an refers to what is invisible to man. Now this shouldn't be conflated with the western idea of the metaphysical. Dualism properly speaking does not exist in in the Qur'an. We talk of metaphysics but things such as spirit and soul and angels all have place and dimension, but they're comprised of a material or on a lightwave imperceptible to man and his instruments.

The universe is divided into seven heavens and seven hells. The earth resides in the first heaven and compared to the second heaven Muhammad ﷺ said the first heaven is like a grain of sand compared to a desert, and so the second compare to third and so on. So creation is quite vast, humans are basically microscopic in a way. In fact in the new forms humans get in heaven they are much larger which according to Ibn Kathir facilitates enhanced detail in sensation. Within the first heaven men and jinn dwell. Man used to dwell in the highest heaven but was banished to earth after the fall.

The most numerous type of being in creation is the angel. Created out of light, angels can travel extremely quickly. While some can take human appearance, it's not their innate form. Jibril (Gabriel), عليه السلام, for example generally visited Muhammad ﷺ in human form but Muhammad ﷺ saw him twice in his true form which is reaches past the sky and has six hundred wings. Other angels are smaller, Muhammad ﷺ relates that the sky is filled with angels a hand's breadth. The angels holding the throne of Allah (which is the terminus of creation) have a distance from their ears to their shoulders of five hundred years of travel (and a day of their time is a thousand years in ours, possibly because of their nearness to the speed of light, Allahu ‘Alim, Allah knows best). The defining quality of angels is obedience, they are totally obedient to Allah. Instead of biological needs like

we have, angels subsist purely on worship of Allah and can see by it, that is when someone prays it looks like light to them. They actively feed on it, putting their mouth to the mouth of the one praying. When there is a gathering just to remember Allah they swarm in to feed and will reach the sky in their piling if it goes on long enough. Angels have an extremely refined sense of smell and austere sensibilities. If someone brushes their teeth before reciting or praying or puts non-alcoholic perfume on they are more likely to come. Eating garlic or having bad breath, even of it's not enough to be detectable to humans, repulses them. They find dogs and images especially offensive and will not approach even prayer done in a house featuring them, though if orders by Allah of course they are not afraid of such things, they just are revolted by them. It should be noted that dogs are not prohibited to own or even hunt with and retrieve food if they are kept outside and owned for a purpose; however keeping them just as companion or indoors is considered haram.

Jinn were a race created before man and their base element is fire (man's is earth) and their base quality is anger (man's is wisdom). Jinn like angels can have many sizes, this is generally based on age. The smallest are very little and the largest are enormous and powerful, a very old and powerful jinn is called an ifrit and if he is malicious he is extremely dangerous. While jinn can potentially live thousands of years they don't have much in the way of technology and are extremely tribal and bellicose. They frequently die in wars or fighting. Culturally they don't develop much and tend to imitate humans near. Physically most are very weak and it is easy to kill them because of their frailty. It would take many small jinn just to shut a door, therefore really malignant jinn typically need help from humans to do what they want, and this is the source of magic--some jinn make an agreement with a human to do certain things for him if he does things for them, generally evil. The services these jinn render is typically spying or finding out things for the person. Jinn love eavesdropping and perverted ones like watching people undress and will sometimes develop an obsession with a particular person. Jinn if old enough can possess people but this takes extraordinary skill because you have to operate their body and brain and it's way complicated for any but the most talented and old. Jinn eat and reproduce but because they can't masticate very well due

to their low body density they feed on feces and rotting food or at least thoroughly cooked. They don't need to eat much but what they eat attracts them, they often gather in toilets and dumpsters. Jinn are not permitted to scoot around the heavens, though they can see angels but as zipping light so the atheistic among them do not believe it is angels, just bizarre natural phenomena. The most powerful jinn is Iblis, Shaytan (Shaytan also means any hostile jinn). He was constantly in prayer and allowed to go to the heavens and sit with the angels because of his devotion to Allah, عز و جل. But when Allah created Adam، عليه السلام, from earth and ordered the angels to prostrate and they did, Iblis among them refused. Iblis felt wronged that something made out of dirt was put above him when he showed more love and dedication to Allah than anyone. Thus Iblis had every other quality save humility, and his lack of humility made everything else worthless. Allah condemned him but he asked his lifespan be prolonged until the end of creation, which Allah permitted. Iblis said he would prove man is a disgraceful creation and devote himself to this, along with his most loyal followers. Over the ages those Iblis knew and loved have died and he grew more powerful with each passing year and yet more alone and bitter.

The Hood al-‘Ayn are celestial virgins whose skin is like milky diamond in complexion but warm and pliable in touch. They have an intense longing for the male companionship they were created without. Once they bond to a man they become unshakably devoted to him. They have black hair and black irises. When a Muslim is awarded paradise he is given a certain number as wives depending on his merit. Men who die in the battlefield are given 72 and warriors are prized husbands to the Hour al-‘Ayn. When a man shows magnanimity (that is to say he forgives a wrong even though he has the power to revenge it, this is obviously a lot different than forgiving when you don't--sometimes we forgive a wrong we cannot revenge just to feel a sense of agency, but a man who can justly revenge himself and yet forgives shows true magnanimity) he is called by Allah upon entering paradise and given a choice of which of the Hoor al-‘Ayn he wants, and he gets one pick for every instance he has shown magnanimity.

I will continue later in sha'Allah with other threads on the Unseen, what happens at death, and eschatology.

Questions and comments welcome

Of course not, thats a discussion about 60 IQ points above the average Muslims IQ.

That automatically disproves Islam. Something doesnt become more true the more people belief it, it becomes less true. If a billion people belief Islam, then its just a simple belief system that appeals to the 85 IQ inbred masses of the world.

Are you aware that the western idea of metaphysics has been criticized by western thinkers like Nietzsche and Heidegger who saw it as an enormous error?

Those stories are so weird.
It's like cosmic horror mixed with religion.
Is this in the Quran ?

Horror is supposed to be the sensation of much of the Qur'an and Muhammad ﷺ said read it in a pleasant voice but not a happy one. He said if you knew what I did you would laugh little and cry much, for while he always smiled he wept long at night knowing much of mankind and jinn were destined for eternity of torture and he had seen what it looks like first-hand

How can someone believe (and love) a good that will torture you for eternity for 70 years of life as an unbeliever ?
May be I'm dumb but why the creator of the whole universe care if I love him? Can't he just let me be in peace after I'm dead ?
I have no hate against Muslims but Islam make no sense to me.

The only reason this life is going on is a test, according to Islam. And it's an open-book test. Unbelievers who didn't get the memo are not held accountable but rather tested a different way after they die

Isn't this different way supposed to be something like God testing to see if they would obey Him by telling them to walk through hell and stuff? A good amount of people say that they will be let into heaven based on their ethic, but i'm pretty sure good ethic and morality is all predicated and rewarded if it was done out of subservience to God
