only time stories worked for games was the point and click era outside of that games should focus on how they play and there's no point in comparing the two.

too bad game devs now think games need to be on par with cinema it's shot the medium in the foot and is the reason why skyrim is a better game than read dead 2. basically games are pulp entertainment and have had a few brief moments of being art.

Videogame stories are plagued with people who believe they're so smart and insightful and create strawmen of ideologies they don't like (see Bioshock, Disco Elysium, Life is Strange). But when called out, of course the "I'ts just a videogame you care too much XDDDD" card is played.

It's also been too influenced by anime. "The power of love" and "limit-breaker dumb tenacious main character" cliches are too prevalent for them to provide any sort of insight on how or why heroes exist.
