this book is technically about pre-socialism when the communists first start to lockdown your society and civilization, but def worth reading if you're looking for 20th century eastern european history that shows how much socialism blows

I probably should have been more specific, though - what I'm looking for is something that would show how postsocialist countries function after regaining independence from the Soviet rule in regard to politics, society, economics etc.
