Finished the bible after 35 days of reading.
It was all going fine until I got the new testament. It's straight up proto-book of mormon fan fiction, prophecy abuse/misrepresentation, false prophecies from Jesus, coping from his apostles. The whole thing is a real sham.

>The OT was a bunch of nonsense
The OT is thousands of years worth of mythological stew, compiled and interpreted by/for people who lived in a world that was extremely unforgiving. What were you even looking for when you picked it up? Did you just want to make zingers about geological records or how nobody could survive getting swallowed by a fish?

Also, why don't you bitch and moan at the clown who provided the link to the shitty blog post with no accompanying argument or commentary? Or was that you and it's ok to do that when the link goes to something defending your gay beliefs?

I've linked the book so people who want a good presentation of the other side can have it. This is lit, as I said, not a philosophy of religion forum. I'm not here to throw pearls before retard swine.

I read Matthew 16:28 in the Greek and Latin.
It seems pretty clear that this is a false prophecy from the language alone. There is no argument here other than mental gymnastics.

Yeah I obviously saw and understood your stupid original complaint.

Your tiny brain forgot that you went on to bitch about me not adding to the discussion. My providing a relevant resource is as much a contribution as someone linking to a shitty blog post (actually more so since what I linked wasn't a shitty blog post but a book, you know one of the things this board is all about).

I don't care about your probably imaginary ability to read Latin (completely irrelevant to the original NT text) or Greek. Would the mere ability to understand written English make someone an authoritative interpreter of Shakespeare you drooling fuckwit? You whine about my lack of argument and yet your "argument" for your view is "me know languages, me position obvious to me, other position mental gymnastics because me say so." Fuck off retard.

Judges has a lot of cool stories, but I think the judges themselves dont have much character except for Samson. And its all a collection of short stories.
Samuel though is a long, developed novella with these complex relationships with all these characters who change. Look at young David vs old David and how he changes. Absalom's rebellion is so interesting and the way Ahithophel turns traitor against David I could go on and on. IIt's better than game of thrones. And the contrast between the pro monarchy poassages and anti monarchy passges are so interesting and challenging. Man I love the books of Samuel
The only part of the books that isnt Shakespeare tier is the story of the ark getting captured in the intro. But I understand that we need that story to show Israel's worst defeat and the necessity to go from the judges to one solidified king.
tldr i like judges and the rest of the bible but i think samuel is on a whole other level of literary achievement

The way the Old Testament is read by the New Testament authors is quite funny. Take half a sentence out of context and totally re-interpret it to fit something unrelated, and voila! You have a fulfilled prophecy.

Only the addition of the holy ghost's guidance will show you the real-world applications of what scripture is actually saying, both literally and otherwise.

1 Corinthians 2:14
King James Version
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

It's like trying to explain the mechanics of a car manual to someone who has never even seen a physical car before irl. This stuff is very real and has very physical manifestations in everyday life unbeknownst to most. In fact, most don't even WANT to know because they are too stuck in the world and it's limitations of knowledge to see otherwise.
