I've read the sailor who fell from grace with the sea, confessions of a mask and I'm reading sun and steel right now.

Sailor was my first book by him and i didn't get it at all. I feel a bit small brained but I didn't get the point of the story and I disliked it despite liking the prose and the book in general. When I read about it and it's meaning more I changed my mind a bit.

Confessions is my favorite and one of my favorite books ever. If you like books like no longer human and have a feeling of not belonging or feeling different from other people I don't see how you can't love this book.

Reading sun and steel now and I feel like this one is going over my head also. I usually read fiction so I am not used to a full book of just disquisition on something, but even then I think only Mishima himself can understand some of his own concepts. Like, I get the basic message and I am still enjoying it for giving me a close into his definitely interesting character, but a lot of the more subtle intricacies are escaping me for sure.

The Sea of Fertility tetralogy is his magnum opus. The first two books are the best in the series.

what if that's the book that propelled you into one of the worst periods of depression you ever had

You can't let books do that to you bro. Personally, reading about people suffering similar struggles to mine makes me feel better. It makes me feel understood and like I am not actually alone because other people go through the same problems (well not exactly the same, but very similar).

Has anyone read "Madam De Sade" or whatever, is it good/twisted?

>> No.17121365

Can I hop into The Sea of Fertility tetralogy without any prior reading of his work?
