The conflict is between your desire to read books in the same way a young woman who likes YA reads books - to “relate” to them and merely see her reflection staring back at her, at which point she exclaims “OMG, it’s literally me!”
That’s the part of you that wants to read a book like Notes from the Underground for stupid reasons. The other side of the conflict is your actual quest for artistic elevation and intellectual development. Unfortunately the latter often gets quashed under the weight of the former, but you can win out over it if you want to.
