ereaders are still better than iPads, phones, or computer screens, but the actual difference between ereaders is minimal particularly when you're in direct sunlight

Honestly I've started to prefer paperback because it's satisfying to see the signs of wear as you get further into something, and having physical proof you've read it by way of weakening the glue and creasing the spine.

I use a nook glowlight 3. it's pretty sluggish, runs lagdroid, and doesn't have great battery life. but I got it as a gift and it has worked well for the past few years. you shouldn't be concerned with how people read but if they read

I switched from Kobo Aura to a Kindle, I miss having the ebook cover as a lock screen. Kindle just has random images in its place and I heard you get ads if you didn’t pay extra.

So that’s pretty lame, I dunno if any of the newer kobo ereaders are better than the paper white for me to switch back

The Clara HD is more or less identical to the Paperwhite. PW is waterproof while Clara has warm light and a replacable SD card.
The Libra is comparable to the Oasis though it's obviously cheaper.
The competition for the Forma isn't Kindle but 7.8" readers from other companies such as Pocketbook, Likebook or Boox,
Nia and basic Kindle are both trash. The Nia has a higher resolution than the Kindle but it's barely cheaper than the far superior Clara.

I prefer reading from my kobo than a paperback tbqh
Pirating books and saving money aside; it's far nicer to hold in the hand and I can read in all kinds of funky sitting and laying positions
I have a Kobo Libra H20 and its great - waterproof, blue light filter etc

I have a Kobo Clara HD and it's much more convenient than reading a physical book. The things I like most are not needing to sit under a lamp to read, and being able to look up words in its dictionary by tapping on them.
