Gay relationships in contrast have nothing holding them together except that the two partners really like each other. But this is a weak glue indeed. In fact, same sex relationships are shorter on average than heterosexual, with gay male relationships being the most short lived of all demographics.
Love isn't meant to be "pure", pure in this sense just means less grounded . Straight relationships have the order of life depending on them, and this is what compels them. Gay relationships have little to stand on and fall apart quickly.
