Usually because the worldbuilding elements like cute traps overshadow important lit stuff like good plotting, timeless themes and interesting characters.

How much pity can we take on this boy's father?
On one hand he has before him a situation that is atrocious beyond any other. Better still to have your son killed in front of you than walking in all "are you winning son?" style and seeing this.
On the other, I refuse to think that such a man could have not have multiple warning signs that his son was veering toward absolute degeneracy and needed a good shake up.

i think its bc genre fiction is very narrow in scope typically, whereas “high” art (whatever that word means to you) is typically considered to be more all-encompassing about life as a whole. that isnt to say that genre fiction is all bad, but by its own very definition it can be very limiting and therefore not as perhaps “rewarding” or “informative” as something that isnt genre. that said, there are some very enjoyable works of genre fiction. i read left hand of darkness and it was a decent read.

i think for the most part though, a lot of genre fiction, especially nowadays, is just ya trash, so it gets more hate.

If it's fun to read, it's midwit tier. Only books that are annoying to read contain anything of value. Only books I've read are important and good and if you don't really dedicate yourself to reading difficult books then you read bad books no I can't explain what is in my hard-to-read good books you'll have to read them yourselves I can't just sum up the ideas from a bad book you won't get the whole idea that way it has to be bad and hard to read and annoying to read so that not everybody reads it and even then the people that say they read it really didn't including the professors that teach the books they literally haven't sat down and read Kant for instance or Hegel it's all a big bluffing game where people pretend they read the book but nobody really sat down and read every word with complete comprehension that I why I believe genre lit is looked down on.

What would you suggest? Have a good talk with him and teaching him that being a fag is bad despite society encouraging and rewarding faggotry, or beat him up and add some victim complex and vindication on top of his degeneracy?

It's not because of the tropes but instead the poor execution of the tropes.

I think he's really hot.

Oh, genre fiction? It's written without literary merit in mind. Some can still have great themes and profundity, but it tends to lead to producing novels for their marketability only to a certain audience. This lavk of variety and focus on simple digestible language bothers those who are pampered by the classics and enjoy prose and philosophically deep themes.
