in the other 3 synoptic gospels it refers to Jesus as God but its more subtle. John is just more in your face with it.

John and Hebrews are the best books of the new testament

After those books, the best content is the letters of Paul to churches, but it's letters, not books, so it has pretty long salutations, and sometimes it simply refers to problems of that church and how they should act, like a man that married his stepmother after his father's death

also, acts of the apostles is an adventures book with miracles instead of superpowers, when I read the bible for the first time as I kid I thought it was the most fun one.

Very often the bible comes with neat maps of the travels of Paul, which is a nice way to know the ancient eastern mediterranean of the roman empire.
