Gonna doubt this as many homosexuals are very selfish and misanthropic. The love of community and brotherly love's source is quite obvious, it's there in the name: it comes from the love of one's family. It can also stem from a bad family life, as one will then seek to create a better family and see humanity in general as their real family... this is where the impulse to form and join Utopian cults and ideologies comes from too.

I don't think I've ever met a gay man who had 'sublimed' his erotic interests. They infact seemed enslaved by them even more than heterosexual men.
As for the greater Active interest in the general affairs of humankind, only as far as being gay means you will not marry, have children, and be forced to work to sustain that family, well, duh. Obviously fags have more free time on their hands and less innate responsibility in to specific members of society. Fags that want to get involved in politics, charity or whatever just have more means of doing so than married men with 3 children and a wife to support.
